Camp Policies & Handbook

  • Children must have completed Kindergarten before they are eligible to participate in Yurtward Bound day camp. We enroll campers ages 6-12 years old. We have a 10:1 campers to director ratio, we will also have junior counselors participating weekly excited to support our campers.

  • Yurtward Bound is committed to maintaining a safe, respectful, and positive environment for all campers and staff.

    • Campers are expected to follow all camp rules, respect others, and participate appropriately in activities.

    • Bullying, harassment, physical aggression, or repeated disruptive behavior will not be tolerated.

    • Staff will use restorative and age-appropriate approaches to address behavior.

    • Continued or serious behavior concerns may result in parent/guardian conferences or dismissal from camp without refund.

    Our goal is always to support growth, accountability, and a healthy camp community.

  • The health and safety of campers is our top priority.

    • All medical information must be provided prior to camp attendance.

    • Medications must be submitted directly to camp leadership with clear written instructions.

    • Campers who are ill (fever, vomiting, contagious symptoms) should remain home until symptom-free for 24 hours.

    • In the event of illness or injury, parents/guardians will be contacted promptly.

    Emergency medical care will be provided when necessary.

  • All water activities are closely supervised and safety-focused.

    • Swimming is permitted only in designated areas at Walkabout Pond.

    • Campers must follow all lifeguard and staff instructions at all times.

    • Life jackets or floatation devices are encouraged for less confident swimmers.

    • No unsupervised water access is permitted.

    Failure to follow water safety rules may result in removal from water activities.

  • Yurtward Bound is a screen-free environment designed to encourage connection and outdoor exploration.

    • Phones, tablets, smartwatches, and electronic devices are not permitted during camp hours.

    • Camp is not responsible for lost, damaged, or stolen personal items.

    • Toys, valuables, and items from home should remain at home unless approved.

    Any prohibited items may be held until pick-up.

  • To ensure camper safety and smooth transitions:

    • Campers must be dropped off and picked up during designated times. Drop off is 8:30am and pick up is 4:00pm.

    • Late pick-up fees will be enforced as outlined in the handbook.

    • Only authorized adults with valid identification may pick up campers.

    • Families must notify staff of schedule changes in advance whenever possible.
