Mud Camp
Our Mud Camp session celebrates one of New England’s most beloved in-between seasons—when the snow has melted, the ground is soft, and nature is waking up for spring. During this special early-season session, campers embrace messy, hands-on outdoor play alongside cozy, creative crafts and nature-based projects. From muddy boots and puddle jumping to painting, building, and exploring the signs of new life, Mud Camp is all about curiosity, creativity, and learning to embrace the in-between.
● Program Overview
What to Expect
Mud Camp keeps the heart of our summer program with friendship, outdoor exploration, and hands-on learning while leaning fully into the magic of early spring in Maine. Campers can expect more time exploring the woods, noticing signs of new life, building with natural materials, and getting comfortably messy. This session encourages resilience, creativity, and connection to the land during New England’s in-between season.
Because early spring weather can change quickly, families should plan to send campers with warm layers, waterproof outerwear, sturdy shoes or boots, and extra clothing. Being prepared for mud, cool mornings, and damp conditions helps campers stay comfortable and fully enjoy their time outdoors.
Mud Camp Activities
Activities focus on exploration, creativity, and skill-building through hands-on outdoor experiences. Campers spend time building with natural materials, creating nature-based crafts, and working together on outdoor projects. Guided woodland walks and group challenges help strengthen teamwork and confidence.
Campers may also practice beginner, age-appropriate outdoor skills such as safely learning how to start a fire with flint under close supervision, constructing simple shelters, and developing problem-solving skills. Each activity is designed to foster independence, curiosity, and a sense of accomplishment in a supportive environment.
